Woodland United Methodist Church is located in a rural farming area just north of Windsor, Virginia, in Isle of Wight County. The original sanctuary, built in 1873, still stands today. Its stained-glass windows and antique doors continue to influence our traditional worship space and style.

Woodland’s members and friends care for one another as family and are active in serving and ministering with the community. The congregation, which includes all ages, is welcoming and hospitable. Woodland Church is about its people… who worship God, grow in faith, and connect to each other and the world around.

A Blessing Shed and Little Lending Library are located on the left side of the church. The non-perishable food items and books are free to the community, for whoever is in need.

meet OUR pastor

Pastor Reason Chandler joins us from Yorktown as a Retired Local Pastor within the Virginia United Methodist Conference. Over the course of his 23-year ministry, he has faithfully served numerous United Methodist Church (UMC) congregations, including Jackson Street UMC, Park View UMC, Park Place UMC, Fairview UMC, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial UMC. Additionally, he has contributed to the Portsmouth District as a Pastor Consultant. Before his ordination as a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church, Pastor Chandler served in the United States Army for a decade.

He and his wife, Olivia, have been married for 31 years and are the proud parents of six children and grandparents to ten grandchildren. Pastor Chandler is a passionate and dynamic speaker who has actively engaged in various community organizations, serving on numerous boards of directors, including the Community Access Network, the Equity Task Force with Lynchburg City Schools, the Leadership Committee of Bridges Out of Poverty, and the Lynchburg Chapter of Virginia Organizers.

In addition to his ministry, Pastor Chandler enjoys singing and mentoring youth within the church, while Olivia is an avid cook who delights in preparing meals for their family and community.
